Friends with Benefits isn’t the only film that Kunis struggled to make. According to the actor, she also had a hard time making the famous sex scene with Natalie Portman in Black Swan, despite how close they were before filming.
“Anytime you do an intimate scene on film, it’s going to be a little uncomfortable, whether it’s the same sex or the opposite sex,” she told Collider. “The truth of the matter is that we were friends before we started the film, so that made it a lot easier,” she continued.
“We didn’t really discuss it very much. We just kind of did it. It made sense for the character. It wasn’t put in for shock value, it wasn’t something that we needed to justify in our heads as to why we were doing it. That was it.”

According to Kunis, she has a tough time filming love-making scenes because she doesn’t like that she has to expose her body to all the people on set. Although the Ukrainian beauty is considered one of the most gorgeous women in the world, she still deals with insecurities just like everyone else.
“I didn’t have any problem with Justin taking his clothes off,” she said to The Daily Telegraph. “But I am incredibly self-conscious in real life about every part of my body, let alone for the whole crew to see and then the whole world to see.”

“There were awkward moments,” she continues, “but the great thing was that Justin and I were friends, so at least I was with someone I knew who was also uncomfortable.”
And while speaking to W Magazine, Kunis said that no matter who she’s filming with, she always has a hard time with the intimate scenes.
“It’s hard to have a sex scene, period,” she said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend, a male, a female. You’re with 100-something crew members, lighting you, repositioning you. There’s no comfort whatsoever.”

At first glance, Kunis wasn’t into the script, feeling as though it was outdated. The actress revealed, «When I got the script it was very dated but I knew it made for a funny movie so I took a meeting with Will Gluck. Will, Justin and myself went out to dinner and that’s when we realized we wanted the same thing for the movie.»
Following the rewrites and the fact that the crew shared the same vision, Kunis had a blast shooting the film.
«We were able to workshop it, re-write the script and tailor the characters to what we feel our generation is like now. A lot of the time you go to work then you have lunch by yourself and then you go back to work. There are those few movies where you actually sit down with your co-star and your director and have lunch together.»

Mila Kunis revealed that a separate audition was held to match her backside. Speaking alongside Ryan Seacrest, Kunis stated that the film was looking for the backside that resembled her own the most.
“These young ladies came in,” she explained. “They were in a casting room and I was there, the director and the casting director and my makeup artist were there. And these lovely women had to show us their derrieres and we chose the one that resembled my body the most without looking like it’s fake.”
Kunis reasoning for using the double made complete sense, as the actress didn’t feel the need to over expose herself throughout the film.
“I showed side-boob, and I figured I can’t just give away everything all at once,” she joked. “I gotta let it all out in little pieces here and there.”
As for Justin Timberlake, he was okay with the revealing scenes. “I only did it because I’m young now, and everything’s where it’s supposed to be,” singer-turned-actor has said of of the nudity. “I figured this is the time, before gravity gets the best of me.”
Despite the minor hiccup in the film, it didn’t lessen Mila Kunis’ experience on set.

Much like his earlier Easy A, Friends with Benefits is a clever, just-this-side-of-painfully-hip relationship comedy that knows when to linger over a punch line and when not to break stride. A few minor speed bumps aside (filmmakers: can we can it with the musical montages, already?), it goes down extremely easy. The story in a nutshell: frustrated by the lack of viable dating options in their vicinity, two platonic friends (Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake) decide to embark on a casual, no-strings-attached physical relationship. However, as a briefly glimpsed clip from Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice foreshadows, things don’t stay simple for very long. As opposed to the standard PG-13 rom com, things get surprisingly raunchy here, but organically so, with the slight snafus and briefly major embarrassments that should ring true to most relationship veterans. As in Easy A, Gluck has assembled a fantastically game supporting cast, including Woody Harrelson, Jenna Elfman, and especially the great Richard Jenkins and Patricia Clarkson as two vastly different parental figures, but it’s really the two leads’ show. Whether arguing the virtues of the band Kriss Kross or engaging in activities unprintable on an all-ages website, Timberlake and Kunis display the snappy back-and-forth of a classic cinematic coupling. Requesting a body double really isn’t anything new, particularly for a revealing scene. Isla Fisher was praised for her performance in Wedding Crashers, however, the actress didn’t feel the need to expose herself in the film.
She stated, «I feel like if you have a female comic character, and then you see her nipples, then she is no longer funny, which is clearly wrong, but that was my theory, and that’s why I didn’t want to do it.”
Fisher might have a point as that type of scene didn’t make much sense for the plotline, and the direction her character was headed towards.
The same held true for Rebel Wilson who asked for a double during her time in Grimsby. Wilson had a clause in her contract from the start that she wouldn’t work revealing scenes.
«They wanted full-frontal nudity. We write in the contract, specifically, ‘No nudity’. They got in another girl — this larger burlesque dancer from South Africa — to be a nude double. And they got her to do all this stuff,» Wilson told the publication.
