During his interview with InStyle, Jeremy Allen White explained that he and Addison Timlin had a few «false starts» in their relationship, alluding to a romance during their teen years.

«We had a couple of false starts throughout our, sort of like, adolescence and early twenties,» Jeremy Allen White said to InStyle.

«And we both had other, kind of, you know, like serious relationships during the time that we weren’t together. But, I think, you know, I was always really after Addison. And, um, that long game was pretty crazy.»

That «long game» resulted in a marriage that lasted around 4 years and produced two beautiful children, Ezer and Dolores. This made the news of their divorce even more shocking to fans, who have been delighted in watching their absurdly romantic relationship on Instagram.

However, according to a report from DeuxMoi, there’s been trouble in paradise for some time now. And this was backed up by Addison Timlin’s 2023 Mother’s Day Instagram post that stated that she’s been a «single mother» for around «9 months». This means she and Allen White have been broken up long before he publicly stated his love for her in his Golden Globes acceptance speech.

By the end of Shameless season 11, the Gallagher family got even bigger. Mickey Milkovich is around the same age as Lip Gallagher, which would make him around 25 years old when the story ends. Debbie’s daughter Franny is five years old, having been born on the Gallaghers’ kitchen table in season 6. On Mother’s Day, Timlin wrote: “Being a single mom is not how I pictured it. It is so f—ing hard. Some fans questioned her use of “single mom” given that her children’s father was very much in the picture still. One comment said; “There is a difference between being a single mom and being a mom that is single,” so she changed the phrasing to read, “Co-parent is not how I pictured it.”

White was apparently taken aback by her posts, as a source told Page Six in an article published on June 22, 2023, that he was “blindsided” by the Mother’s Day post: “Addison changed her Instagram post because it wasn’t accurate, a lot of people were like ‘What are you talking about?” The source continued: “Jeremy had no control about where he was filming. After 11 successful seasons, Shameless is officially over — which seems bizarre considering there’s no real reason for the show to end. After Emmy Rossum’s season 9 exit, people wondered if the series could survive without Fiona Gallagher. However, Shameless season 10 proved that the show could live on in the wake of her absence. Besides this, the British version of the series had numerous exits throughout its run, revealing that the premise just provides engaging content overall.

It was a genuine surprise when Showtime announced that Shameless season 11 would be the show’s last, and the only excuse given was that all good things must come to an end. In an interview with Variety, executive producer John Wells explained that one could only follow someone’s life for so long, and that’s why the series came to an end.

Shameless season 11 left off somewhat open-ended, leaving plenty of room for a 12th installment. Frank died in the final episode, succumbing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lip’s story has the loosest ends as it is left unclear if his girlfriend is pregnant again, or if he sells the house. Debbie also was left with a lot of uncertainty, as her arc leaves her considering whether she’ll move with a woman who held her at gunpoint.

Shameless characters Ian and Mickey got the best ending, moving into an apartment together and considering parenthood. Carl got a fitting end: he considers buying the Alibi and making it into a cop bar. Liam, on the other hand, didn’t get much of an ending at all. The one thing that strikes odd about the Shameless series finale is that, despite the heavy amount of flashbacks, Fiona doesn’t make an appearance. Given how integral she was in the lives of her siblings, it would have made sense for her to show up for some of these big moments.

In the divorce documents obtained by The Blast, there isn’t much to go on. Timlin didn’t list a reason behind the separation and mentioned nothing specifici about the custody of their minor children 4-year-old Ezer Billie and 2-year-old Dolores Wild.

In an IG post, she described her ex as the love of her life. He’s her “best friend of 15 years, who happens to be the love of my life.” She also wrote. How amazing their kiddos are.

Nor is there any proof of who Timlin allegedly cheated with. And yet, fans appear to have that sorted out too. According to numerous threads, said «actor/writer/director» is Cooper Raiff. He is best known for his 2022 film, Cha Cha Real Smooth, which he wrote, directed, and starred in alongside Timlin’s best friend, Dakota Johnson. Redditors believe that Johnson is responsible for connecting Timlin and Raiff.

But there’s zero proof of that as well.

An apparent conflicting DuexMoi tip suggested that Allen White was the one who cheated with a PA on his show ahead of the second season. But this is unconfirmed as well.

«But just like everything with motherhood the lows are demolished by the staggering heights,» she continued. «To live with young children is an eyes wide open, wondrous and joyful place to be, it’s to be surrounded by a daily expression of their authentic selves and I wonder if without their example I would have been able to do the same.»

«My hope for all mothers is that the expansive, unconditional, without fear or judgment love we offer our children can be turned towards ourselves as much as possible. We need it,» she wrote. «Knowing what is best for you is easy if you can get quiet enough- doing what is best for you can seem impossible- but it’s not.»

«Im feeling so peaceful today and so deeply in love with my children, being a mom is the only thing I’ve ever wanted and being theirs is just the luckiest most remarkable thing on the planet,» Timlin continued. «Doing it alone has given me more strength and more empathy and more tears than anything else in my life ever has.»

«So thank you to everyone that has helped me in these last 9 months,» she concluded. «The moms who picked my kid up from school in an emergency, play dates that made weekends feel a little less like climbing a small mountain, crying in my car, urgent care centers, frozen 1 and 2, and my little man JJ, Kraft mac and cheese, dry shampoo, ice cream, lollipops, goldfish, pirates booty, pull ups, crocs, soap & water, neighbors, my friends, my family, and if you turned and said to me ‘I’ve got you.’ Oof. It feels good. Happy Mother’s Day ya’ll.»

Timlin filed for divorce from White, 32, on May 11. According to the divorce filing obtained by ET, Timlin lists the date of separation as Sept 1, 2022.

In her divorce filing, Timlin asks for spousal support. Meanwhile, a source tells ET that she and White attempted to work things out before deciding to split.

«Jeremy Allen White and Addison were having trust issues during their relationship, that ultimately led to their divorce,» the source says. «They were attempting to work things out, but things became increasingly difficult for them, and they decided to split.» 

The longtime couple met in 2008. They welcomed their first child, Ezer, a decade later. White and Timlin tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony back in 2019. Then, in December 2020, the pair welcomed their second daughter, Dolores.
